Getting Back On The Horse

I've waited 2 years to ride Pandora. I love Capria. But I've always wanted to ride Pandora. So she and I had a talk about it and I asked her if it was ok, to tell me if it didn't work out, but could we please give it a try? We're both out of shape. I wish I could be here and ride her regularly.

We shall now wax metaphorical and talk about how one must keep getting back on the writing horse each time one gets thrown off of it.

Pandora and I talk after the riding lesson. I have a case of helmet hair. But we have lots to say to each other anyway.

I have a lot of homework to do to get myself balanced again. So does Pandora. We're both tight on the right side from favoring an injury to the left foot/left stifle.

Cool, Oz! I enjoyed the "wax metaphorical" part the most. ;-)

You're from Texas. Isn't it required for citizenship? Don't they kick you out of you can't ride and wear cowboy boots? And who ever said you didn't know how to ride? Not I. I once rode English as a young girl in my horsey phase. But this is more about the horse than the ability to ride. I love animals.

I may live in Texas, but let me show you my David Bowie icon again.

Actually, I grew up in Kansas and my parents (both school teachers) raised horses on our 55-acre ranch. I helped my mom deliver one at 2 am when I was a teen. I'll never forget that. Wonder how many horses Bowie has dilvered? ;-)

Oh he's the Thin White Duke. He has servants to deliver horses. And anything else he wants.

Yeah, probably had a stand-in double take his equestrian lessons for him. Spoilt English dukeity-duke!

They don't require you to wear boots and ride a horse anymore. A large belt buckle and a pick-up truck will suffice. However, until you ride a horse, you can't call yourself a cowboy or you get tarred and feathered.

Well who knew you were on livejournal? And an old account, too. So now you know where I live.

I told Judy you had barrel raced as a child. She says she would really like to see what you and her horses make of each other.

I'm definitely coming to horse camp. Do you know your next horse camp dates?

It's been almost 20 years since I've been on a horse. But during the Dad-ashes pack trip this August I'll see how much I remember.

horse camp is when you want it to be, for the most part. You and Alyx should work out a good time for you and come. Or if it's just you, someone will join you, I'm sure. I'm coming back in the late fall, but Judy can run them pretty much to suit you. Email her!

Now, you're the one person on the f-list who knows Pandora and can judge whether we're a nice fit. Pandora makes me want to ride.

I'm glad Pandora said yes. It looks like it was a wonderful day for a ride.

It was a nice day. It had become quite hot the past few days so we rode in the morning. Very pleasant.
