Helpers

I've had a lot of assistance while editing.

The cats that adopted me (and my desk), Goliath (14) and Phineas (1). There's a point here where Goliath started flicking his tail and Phineas found it irresistible. Did not end well for Phineas. Goliath has personal space issues.

Thankfully, that machine is mostly for business correspondence (not needed at the moment) and music. My typing table is to the right, where I do most of my keying on either of my laptops. The papers are notes, drafts, bills, to do lists, the usual. The keyboard has been moved aside, otherwise the computer goes nuts, despite the screensaver lock.

It's weird, but ever since I got back from Boston, it's felt like my house is FULL of cats. Right now Thomas and PD are in my office. Goliaths is sleeping in the bay window in the living room and Phineas (when will he learn?) is bugging him.

Mina's in my lap. Fitz has taken to sleeping about three feet in front of the door when he's not sleeping with me, which makes it a bit awkward getting in and out without stepping on him. Weird cat. At least he doesn't run out the door.

yup. terminally cute. and reasonably undemanding so I can work. Good thing it's Goliath closest to me. Pet him too much and you're likely to get a claw in your hand. Sometimes it means "stop" and sometimes it means "don't stop." But either way, ouch.

We have found it really tricky to introduce a new cat into a household, especially with an older adult. Or two. Or three. We've had to segregate them for as much as 3 weeks at times. Introducing young ones in sets seems to work really well. It worked for Judy, too. I thought Benny would have more trouble, but I think it's 1) there are already so many and none of them can count; 2) he's non-aggressive.

Helper cats are awesome! My younger cat is not a lap cat until I have my laptop out and I'm trying to work. At that point, there is no other place in the world he would rather be.

How does anyone write without a cat, I wonder?

Yours are especially nice.
