PSA Re: Facebook

I don't like FB. It's not really my thing, but I like staying in touch with my friends. And I read their feeds. Just like I read livejournal feeds. And I don't always 'like' things and I don't always 'comment' on things. Just like on livejournal. But it doesn't mean I'm not reading.

Except on Facebook.

I grabbed this from my f-list, seachanges. She said that you no longer get the feeds from all your friends. Just the ones you've 'interacted with recently.' Whatever that means. To get your full feed back, you have to go to the bottom of your newsfeed and click on options and change it to 'all friends.'

This makes no sense. No wonder no one saw what I posted on FB recently. I'm such a lurker that only a few people would have seen it. Good grief.

Facebook, please let ME choose whether to read something. Don't edit for me. Talk about Big Brother. Give me a break.

Go check it out for yourself. It's part of this new profile they gave us. Idiots. Spread the word. They didn't exactly tell people about it.

You have just identified one of the several reasons I am not on Facebook.

Seriously?

I have a Facebook account, and sometimes I remember to cross-post to it, but I only read it once in a blue moon and hardly make any comments at all. So, yeah...same boat.

I don't really like Facebook, but it's the only place I can keep up with a number of family members and old friends. This is really annoying.

Thank you for the heads up about the change in the friend feed! I was wondering why it seemed like only a few of my friends were posting things...

Sorry to have missed your post.

I do not care for Facebook, but what do you do when 90% of your family (and extended family) are all on FB?

The WSJ had an article yestersday stating that Facebook and Google have made offers to buy out Twitter (http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052748703716904576134543029279426.html).

If one of those two has to get Twitter, I hope it's Google. The longer I use Facebook the more I hate it.

I don't use FB hardly at all, simply because I'm put off by the indication of how many of my relatives have too much time on their hands, and spend it in inane ways.

Facebook started doing that a while back, and I thought it was pretty clear how to set the feed -- that said, Facebook changes things too often, so you have to be alert. I find it a great tool, but it needs constant tweeking.
