Proto Story Redux!

Another proto-story in the bag! Another 10k wordling, this time on the water story. (Bonnie knows the synopsis.)

And now, we're on to the third proto-story of November. I'm going to make 25k words in NaNo or more, but I don't quite see how I'll manage the full 50k at this point. But I'd like to get this next one done and do a fourth into the first week of December, at which point I would be finishing up a gen ship story at my annual writing retreat in Markham. But that's 'finishing up' which is not the same as doing a first draft with editor disengaged.

I have one idea that is very ill-formed so I might not be able to do a proto story yet in that 'universe.'

I drip with the wealth of work that is ready for my editor, yes. It's a different way to write and it was a good experience. Otherwise, I end up with half-finished drafts and lots of ideas that have not been tried on paper. I shall count my drafts in my counting house and hold them close with avarice until they have been edited. Each has the shape of beginning, middle, end, making them more than semi-precious, making them diamonds in the rough, emeralds and rubies to be cut.

I am pulling out draft number 3 this morning, an odd little fantasy piece and working on it. My word count is creeping up on yours.

Listening to you tell about ditch riders (especially as it approached the witching hour) was quite memorable.

25K is no small potatoes. Go you!
