What's Up With This?

What is it about procrastinating that so appeals to me?

I'm staring at a work that is now about 7k words that needs large blocks moved around. Last night, when E was in gymnastics, I did some line edits in the front. They were easy, but I was uneasy. It wasn't that they were wrong, it was that I wasn't ready yet for line editing. I was still playing around with overall shape and needed to move large blocks of text (as opposed to just cutting). But I didn't have my hard copy with me.

And today, I've had a munchkin underfoot which is never helpful and I read mail and created new mail and read blogs and now I'm creating new blogs. All in the interest of helping others to procrastinate as well.

Argh. I really want to dive in and do it. I really want to stick my toe in. It's sort of like a pool of water, you know? So here I am sitting in a chair at the side of the pool, doing neither.

In other news, Miss E is off to Disneyworld to see the xmas decorations tomorrow morning for 5 days. With her aunt. I couldn't see paying the airfare to go with her, so she will have this big adventure without me. Hopefully, she will take photos for me.

Well, you aren't doing nothing. You're identifying the problem.

OK! (Got out hard copy and started seriously thinking about moves. FINALLY.)

Yeah, I mean, you're right: there's no point in doing line edits when the big shifts haven't been made.

Hope Mary and Miss E have a wonderful time at Disney! And hope you have good writing days while they're gone!
