Closing Camp

Tonight we had the final friendship circle at Horse Camp. We sang Kumbaya and all that stuff you learned in Girl Scouts. Well, I learned it in a nature camp, but you get my drift. We ate leftovers since the food has been plentiful and flavorful. We talked to horses and watched them cavort in the dying light of another desert day.

I printed out my boarding pass for tomorrow.

I'm leaving horse camp with a new story, drafted and edited. And with more progress made on the final rewrite of the fairy story.

I'm leaving horse camp having seen a real gila monster up close and personal.

I'm leaving horse camp with a copy of the final book in the series by Kathleen Bryan. Which The Dude will promptly ask for when I get home. He's a big fan.

I'm leaving horse camp with digital photos and lots of memories.

"Make new friends, but keep the old. One is silver and the other gold."
It's a round. I'll bet at least some of the f-list knows it.

Sung by the dying light of the final virtual campfire here in the desert.
