In order of arrival:
Mrs Gaines (now deceased), the Queen
PD, a guard cat, 12 years old
Rainbow Tom, the Regent, almost 6 years old
Goliath, a guard cat, 13 years old
Shy Ozzie (girl)
Doodledorf Casey (girl)
Grady (shy boy)
What's amazing is how distinctive the kitten personalities are, even at 6 months old. And, as The Dude says, not a dud in the bunch. Each one has his/her charms and foibles. Thank goodness for living in the country and in a fairly open house plan. Eight cats is not something you want to try in a more limited living space. All of them can now go outdoors...pity the weather's getting colder already.
Shy Ozzie, the frontrunner for Queen:
Doodledorf Casey, up to no good in the water dish. She's the tomboy, strong as anything:
Casey sucks up to the Regent (we blondes need to stick together). And yes, she actually does idolize and copy "Uncle" Thomas.
Phineas, who doesn't realize it, but he's already hand-fasted to Shy Ozzie. Phineas is fascinated by anything to do with computers. And he's also something of a Doodlehead. One of your handsome playboy types.
Ferb, who is a full brother to Shy Ozzie and Doodledorf Casey and therefore can't marry either one. He had an ulcerated cornea and was the runt of the litter. I think he's going to be the alpha male of the house eventually. He has the silkiest fur.
And finally, Grady, who spent his first week in my closet and had to be bribed with treats to come near us (serious chow hound). He's now feeling more confident and has become lap fungus. He may end up handfasted to Doodledorf Casey, but if he does, I know who will wear the pants in that family.
All three boys, taken when chasing a laser light:
Left to right, playing with a laser light are Phineas, Shy Ozzie, and Ferb. We used to have a lot of cootie issues between the boys and girls, but they seem to have gotten over that. Now it's just PD that goes out of his way to express his overall displeasure. Even Goliath tolerates the mayhem. The Regent plots and hides his true opinions.
