Insanity Strikes

There is a line somewhere and the household has now crossed it. My yoga instructor donated another cat to us. He's Benny. He's awesome. But on the other hand, he's another cat. So now there are nine. Which means there are 81 lives running around the house and it's feeling crowded. Add the human lives and that's 85. Benny thinks our house is crowded too.

But he's a love. No one was sleeping on the master bed and now Benny is. He didn't get to do that in his old house. He's also made friends with Phineas, the total doodlehead. But who doesn't make friends with Phineas?

Benny has also made friends with Miss E. He likes her bed too, but we're still shutting him in our room at night. No sudden cat fights, please. Benny is something of an alarm clock. He gets very chatty at 4:30 and the Dude has been sleeping late. Benny makes sure he gets up.

Sometimes, when there are 4 micro cats chasing each other into our bedroom, Benny thinks it's a bit much. He's hissed at them, though he stopped hissing at Phineas. Everyone does. And Ferb. Because Ferb is just unflappable. But the micro cats are used to the grownup cranky cats, so Benny hasn't fazed them at all.

But yes, when you have a baseball team (minus the designated hitter) of cats, you have one heck of a lot of cats. Even if half of them are micro cats. Thankfully, they all enjoy spending a great deal of time outdoors.

And here's something else from AZ, just to offset this insanity...

Try and find the twisty saguaro.

You know, just as I'm looking at 4 and thinking I have way too many cats, I can look at this post and thank goodness I don't have 9 :-)

Though I maintain that Gray is just my foster kitty, hanging around until I find him a better home. I say that even as he sprawled next to the keyboard, looking content with life and certain he's not going anywhere.

Congrats on your new addition. The more the merrier!

It's funny you should say that. I've now adopted the mindset that I am privately 'fostering' most of the cats in this house. I will call upon the shelter that six of them came from to back up my assertion, should the county ever question us.

Alternatively, I divide them by the humans in the house. My sister has two, I have two, my husband has two, and Miss E has two. Thomas, the fat regent, sort of does and doesn't belong to anyone. It depends on what he's done lately. When we each have two, there are hardly any cats at all.

You are definitely insane. And I see the twisty saguaro.

aww, you're nowhere near as bad as my parents: at a given time they always have something like 20 cats and kittens around the place! And to think this all started when I was 9 or so, waaaay back in 1988, with Pumpkin and Puffy, and then my parents didn't spay Puffy. So then the neighbor's cat got into it with her...

...and years later, joe_chin and I have Moku, who is Puffy's great-great-great-great-grandson and the best little therapy kitty ever! (though I know my dear Lobster wants a chihuaha too someday... and maybe another cat for the fuzzball to run around with)

that must have been amazing! Some are feral freeloaders, or all were pets? And it's very cool that you still have a descendant.

lol, they were/are all both, believe it or not... I dunno how many are at the place now but Dad gives me updates every time one of the females has kittens, so it has to be around the same number. *G*I swear there's something in the water down there, between he and I there are tons of bizarre cat stories!
