Cats Make Lousy Housekeepers

Honestly, they do. We rented them the living room while it had a lot of stuff in it that we needed to sort through and get rid of, as well as a lot of Weatherdude's plants. And like a lot of tenants, they trashed the place. On Tuesday night, I began cleaning the floor, tile by tile. Friday afternoon and I finally have a good chunk done:

The windows were washed inside as well.

And no, you may not see the rest of the room for comparison. You can see an approximate "before" shot two days back in my journal. Some shifting has occurred to facilitate washing the floor. This is only 1/3 of the room, alas. On the plus side, it's probably 1/2 the total tile because there's this big piece of plywood where a hot tub once went when this addition was built. Maybe we should put one back in? Woodstove, windows and hot tub, what could be more hedonistic?

The actual plan is to have both the recumbent bike and the rowing machine in this room, along with some pieces of furniture that make it a pleasant place to read or laze. Right now, the recumbent bike is (where else?) in the foyer. A room for both activity and snoozing, now there's a concept. Miss E seems to think it will make a great workroom for her one day. She can keep several looms in there and also her schoolwork. Well, yes. But it does get a bit chilly in there in the dead of winter and she's forgetting that.

There's still a lot to be done.

Ozzie would like to know why a perfectly good chair is out on the deck (because it's broken?)

I find that cats don't really like change. They don't mind the occasional chair moving. It might be nice to find its new location and claim it. But an overall upheaval of THEIR room? Let's just say several complaints have been lodged and I cleaned up one of them this morning.

Frog Out

Oh..look what I found in the driveway this morning! Weatherdude's new car!

I have two cats that are troubled by cleaning and change, too. One feels the need to mark everything that's changing...which means we have to clean up all over again. The other gets anxious.

Nice car!

The ones that insist on making sure that it's still their stuff drive me crazy. Yes, it's yours. You really DON'T need to mark it again. Nature's Miracle. Buy it by the gallon.

Weatherdude is very happy with the car. I like the red VW wagon. We'd better like them a lot because it's another decade to another new car! (says the CPA in me)

Nice new car!

Great cleaning job!

And I think that room is bigger than my whole house.

It's big. Which made it too good a storage room for plants and toys and things that needed to go to Salvation Army. A wee pile here and there that kept getting bigger and bigger and bigger. And now is slowly getting smaller and smaller and smaller. We've already covered the clean area today with keep, throw away, donate piles. We can almost see the rug in the next section of the room!

Not to mention the little icon of Phineas trying to figure out what I'm doing. But yes. Both beautiful. So is the snow.

Lovely room. I love decluttering (or I never would have married Hakerdude)and wish I lived nearby, to help.

Our kitties either get seriously ANNOYED if we move things, or fretful. Thank goodness there has been no making of territories with all the musical chairs in my house.

And he bought a Hyundai! One of those saved my life, which did wonders for my brand loyalty.

You would be a whirlwind of "get rid of it." Some we can, some we can't. But much went to the landfill and to charity. We did not simply shift things to another room. That was against the rules.

Yes, he has the newly redesigned Sonata. I hope he enjoys it because I've got the VW now.
