First Work Week Completed

The first week of work is done. My room hosted dinner and then the movie session with "His Girl Friday." Kyle grilled for us while the roommates ran around setting out plates and condiments. Traci made brownies for everyone, which smelled awesome as they baked. Tasted pretty good, too. Had to sample one. But just one.

We have had an amazing work week. Problem is I wish there were more hours in the day or that I were a faster crit reader. Because with reading, networking, eating and working from 10 to almost 5 each day, there hasn't been much time to write. Today we got out at around 3, so I was finally able to sit down with all my notes for Helen and Ciera's story and combine them with all my class notes on plot. I've been scribbling scenes and ideas, trying to figure out motivation, change, and how to increase tension. Dialogue? Well, that's still an issue. But then I sat down and re-edited the opening for Naamah's Ark and it looked pretty good, felt like I might know where I'm going. To some unknown planet in some unknown star system in some unknown amount of years. But that's actually part of the story. Really. It's not because I haven't done my worldbuilding. No, that's all full of apartment swapping and a crazy computer system and handmaidens. Or something like that.

Felt good to actually write and feel confident as I was doing it. As opposed to floundering around.

And Miss E told me on the phone tonight that I was to stop eating chocolate. So I could lose weight and not get as fat as Santa Claus. My roommates are making me eat chocolate. It's not my fault. Really. We're starving up here on the mountain. And it's coyote eat coyote. And the chocolate was just sort of there in a moment of weaknesses. Maybe three or four moments.

Frog Out

Work, work, work. Work, work. Work.

I go, I go. Look how I go.

But you don't go.

Well, yes, I go. I have just under 4 hours to write stuff about Ciera and Helen.

Frog Out

Dateline Saturday

Hildy has reported in the Daily Mail that George RR Martin has succumbed to a pack of coyotes in the Taos Ski Valley of NM. The coyotes are completely denying the rumor.

A rumor reported in a competing daily newspaper has a source from the mountain quoted as saying that GRRM has merely been kidnapped and is being held for a large ransom of chocolate.

But those in the know know that he was merely held up for his pow-wow by the annual Taos pow-wow traffic.
