Mouse King's Face

Back to the Fairy Story

Ok, so I've promised to go back to my edit. Because I kept tripping up over the beginning, I cut the entire middle section and copied it into a new sub document in scrivener. The idea is that I can play around with it there, move the words, cut the bracketed comments when they've been addressed.

The middle is crucial, I realized. Here is where I need buildup and backing back down, here is where character is revealed. I know pretty much what happens when character #3 appears. It's #1 and #2 that have to get their act together and do their stuff, plot-wise.

I mean, really. So much of this was written out of order. I have this scene that came to me later that simply must go earlier because later something else happens. And I wrote that earlier in the draft.

So by making it a smaller draft to shift around, I'm hoping this makes it more manageable. If I can't do this with a short story, how will I ever manage a novel?
