News From Home

Ok, so you thought I would blog about Taos. How boring. Work, work, work. That's all we do. Even watching Casablanca is work. We started at 10 am and except for a couple of breaks, ended at almost 10pm. And I still have a writeup to do.

But that's not what this is about. See the title?

I received a message from home that the Dude found a toad on the deck. This is nothing out of the ordinary. It is also quite ordinary for him to point it out to Miss E. They're a couple of kids about these things.

Miss E captured the toad and brought it inside and showed it to Auntie Em who was resting on the couch. At which point, being a toad, it pee'd on Miss E and the couch, which did not amuse Auntie. So she dropped it. And they had a toad that needed to be recaptured. The last time they dropped a toad, it promptly went under the stove, which is also where the mouse went when they dropped it. But this time the kitchen was sufficiently distant that the toad was recaptured without further incident.

Then Miss E decided to show the toad to the chickens. And learned that this was not a very good idea, at least from the toad's perspective. Toad firmly in beak, one chicken took off, hotly pursued by 9 others. And no, I don't know if it was Walkabout. They're all little omnivores. Heck, they even eat dead mice the cats leave around.

And that's the news from home.
